Child Sponsorship Program

At Two Tunics we believe that education is one of the best weapons we have in the battle against AIDS and poverty in the the communities we serve in South Africa.

For past two years Two Tunics’ Child Sponsorship Program provided support to about 30 school age OVC (orphans and vulnerable children) in the Ugu District of KwaZulu-Natal. For this coming school year this program has been expanded to include 62 needy children. This support is essential for the ability of most of these children to stay in school. The OVC in our database live in a community which one of our 6 local community partner projects serves. They have been identified by our partners as especially poor and needy children that live in the community, usually with a gogo (grandmother). Most have lost one or both parents, mostly to AIDS, and have no parent involved in their care.

For this school year starting in January 2012 our partners have identified 62 needy children.  Support in the amount of a one time donation of $90 or 700 Rand provides needed school uniforms, school supplies and a food parcel. In most cases the schools will waive the school fees for these poor children. Any additional support given throughout the year provides additional food parcels and potentially support for field trips or sport uniforms. These small gifts make a huge impact in the lives of these children.

Thanks to the generous support of Northview Bible Church in Spokane and Grace Church in St. Louis, as well as several individual donors, all 62 children in our program have recieved sponsorships for this year. May God protect and bless each child in their studies this year.
